Broadband Census of America Act of 2007 (H.R. 3919)
The Broadband Census of America Act (H.R. 3919), introduced by Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.), would encourage broadband deployment by creating a comprehensive nationwide inventory of existing broadband service.
The bill would produce a map that identifies communities that are served by few or no broadband service providers. This data would be collected for every 9-digit ZIP code, census tract or “functional equivalent.”
A companion bill, S. 1492, has been introduced in the Senate.
Free Press strongly supports this bill.
